Files and Directories
A File is a saved document or a program, and can have many suffixes, such as doc, txt, wpd etc... Programs generally have a .exe or .com as an ending or suffix. Saving Files is a very routine task, and once you do it a few times, it becomes second nature.

Directories/Folders
Directories, and Folders are the same thing, a Folder or Directory or a Sub Directory is where the files and programs are saved. The main directory or Root directory is the highest level, everything comes off of it. Under Windows(tm.) most programs install themselves under a directory or folder called Program Files, and if you look at the directory structure using either Windows Explorer or my computer, you will notice + signs, this means that there is one or more SubDirectories beneath this folder/Directory. If you click on the + sign it will open up the subdirectory, and you may see even more +'s . If you look at + sign that you clicked, you will notice that it turned into a - sign. This indicates that this Level is opened.
